| These games have been going on at least 54 years; that is, one eye-witness remembers these July Fourth games from when he was five years old. He may have participated in a tricycle race like this one.

How slow can a bike be ridden? At times these racers were pointed forward but were not moving at all. Wide tires, good balance, and a low center of gravity are a must. The last to cross the finish line wins. Here we see Pete, the defending champion, displaying his glacial form. |
A few women took this 50-yard race seriously. Just look at that racer at the far end getting a jump on everyone else. Most of the women, however, danced the fifty yards in a circle. In the center of their circle was the red-haired lass in the dark dress. In perhaps her ninth month of pregnancy, she walked straight toward the finish line while the other women spun around her. She was awarded third place. |
The Disobedient Dog Race saw two or three dogs actually run to their masters. Most, however, did as they pleased. Merlin the Wonder Dog, second from left, ran ninety degrees in the wrong direction. Click here to see the Wonder Dog webpage. |
How fast can you move across fifty yards turning cartwheels? I didn't even try. In fact few males did. Those that did, won, proving once again that males are superior to females in yet another inconsequential field. |
Husbands and wives teamed up with their youngest child to participate in the Primary Care-Giver Relay Race. Holding the child in one arm, the first spouse runs fifty yards picking up toys as they travel. At the other end, the happy couple then puts a diaper on the child, all the while holding the child and the toys. Then the other spouse runs back, holding the child, at the same time picking up socks and putting them in the bag with the toys. Bonus points were then given for those who were able to match pairs of socks. |
